As some of you might have noticed, I set a 12.320 cpm time on un-dead!021. That time is cheated.

Shortly after setting that time, I contacted hk and asked him to review it. After a review by hk, I can say with no ambiguity that this time and the technique behind it is to be considered a cheat if it wasn't already.

The aids of a technique allows for maps that do not have VQ3 times to have one, and breaks existing maps in CPM (pornstar-slopin can be broken pretty hard; left as an exercise for people to try offline).

The run utilized a consistent spawn sticky ob. A sticky ob is not necessarily a cheat. However, the setup behind this spawn sticky ob is.
WARNING: use of the steps detailed below is considered a CHEAT and I hope no one logs times with this shit.
In order to consistently spawn with a sticky ob one must:
Code: Select all
- choose a map that isnt noOBed and has a spawn sufficiently close to the floor
- cl_timeNudge -250 (it doesn't have to be -250, just a sufficiently large negative number. though most clients that aren't iDFe/q3e based probably won't let you use the numbers you might require.)
- spawn while having a direction key held
- (reset cl_timeNudge to 0 unless you are a masochist)
- profit (get banned)


Once again let me remind you, this technique is forbidden online. As are the (random) variants which some people have already grinded for: map_restart/kill-strafe/map, ob and phys toggle.

I hope this clears everything up and that I will not be bombarded anymore with messages during work hours.

in offline you can get consistent spawn ob with zwob in such maps, which is nowhere near a cheat. such setup is not doable online. so is it unfair to compare offline and online times any more? i thought some online recs were bad, just because they lack an ob for the exact start trick.

Not sure what setup/settings/engine you use offline so I don't know if it is or isn't a cheat. Can you perform it on a LAN server?

Usually it is OK to compare offline and online times, because most people aren't aware nor capable of using the differences. Though when it comes down to it, offline and online are indeed different in some cases and in some grindy maps becomes hard to compare. Some tricks will just downright end up impossible to do online and vice versa.

Adding mdd servers to the mix the story becomes more hairy. Under the same keypresses you can get a slower time on mDd servers over other servers. This is a niche thing that is pretty insignificant on most maps in the long run.

I would give specific examples of the differences between offline and online but discord search sucks.

q3ctf1 vq3.1 uses a similar thing and isnt considered a cheat

Similar how? The thing is a sticky itself is not a cheat, but it depends on how the sticky was gotten.

literally the only difference u mentioned is using timenudge -250 which is not even close to being a cheat.

I don't get it. So you just spawn and get a sticky or what? In this case timenudge -250 is a cheat because pretty much every client won't let you nudge that far. Furthermore you are manipulating net settings momentarily to gain an unfair advantage which is against the rules. Lastly, players like h@ste(probably) and Matt cannot use this shit on most online servers if any.

it's a pretty old but unpopular trick that does advantage, you can find it in dfwc2010-0 top 1 vq3 demo by yotoon. idk about other online conditions but as long as you bob(very low vob occurs, doing zwob changes your height so you get sticky ob) when you spawn this is doable.

Sorry for being dense, but is this the one where you use low fm/rm values (ie. +strafe) while spawning?

i don't get your question, you perform it exactly same way as an ordinary zwob when you are dead and hit respawn button inbetween.
