Wrong name of demofile ! WTF ?

When i play offline:
df_name "ALIEN": demos\r7-forage[df.cpm]00.12.720(ALIEN.Poland).dm_68

when i connect to server, using DFEngine:
df_name "ALIEN": demos\r7-forage[mdf.cpm]00.12.816(ALEN.Poland).dm_68

Why filename is different than offline ? It seems that online server ignore df_name. WTF

literally true, but entire bug goes directly from player name length limitation by server
shouldn't it be limited in site code, since its intended just to prevent crashing of page tables?
also there still is a way to crash them

I don't follow. Page tables as in quake internal memory tables or as in website layout?
I did write some code that clamps names to 16 characters(highscore table maxlen) but it skips colors.

I don't know about any name related crashes.
I do know about thread related crashes which I am not going to fix because the complete rewrite is maturing.

there still is trick how to get enough long name to break tables
why not to fix the problem right where its located - in the site code?

That change has nothing to do with the website.
It's just some nazi decision by my self about how long a name should be.
More than 16 characters don't fit into the defrag highscore table.
I was annoyed by some players who had extra long names just to stand out in the ingame chat.
I changed it and nobody ever complained about it to this day. If they did, they certainly didn't inform me about any issue they have with it.

The website issue is know but NM doesn't give a shit about it.
And I don't have the authority to touch website related things.
Actually, I don't even know what triggers the problem. It doesn't seem to be a xml parsing thing.
Did you suggest it's the over all length of the XML-Block?

people mostly dont care about demo names and can even not notice difference, because df_name and name are similar usually
the names clamping code didn't ruin df_name in older server versions
would be nice to return this acceptable behavior back

i have no idea about the reason
it doesnt look like one, caused by length tho, because it works with cpu servers only
