English DFWC Analysis Stream

Postby esc?nebuLa » Nov 7th, '14, 12:24 pm

I'm aware that zerg will be doing a russian dfwc stream, however, I haven't heard of anyone doing an english stream yet. It looks like zootlive will be busy doing 125fps league all the way through December, so that's a no-go. :(

Would someone in the defrag community be willing to do a map-by-map post-results analysis in english?

UPDATE: I just got a reply back from zoot and it turns out he's interested! Here's the email and the mail I sent him:

Hey

Thanks for contacting :) Actually would be very interested in doing something for this. What exactly do you propose we do? Give me an idea of what you would imagine being on stream.

Regards

Here is an example of what was done for Defrag World Cup 2012: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zd-5hYzQVJ0

I don't understand russian, so I couldn't elaborate on details... However, basically what he does is discusses the current map being played (The general layout/textures/gameplay/routes being used) and then proceeds to review the results from the current round. Demos from each physic (vq3 and cpm) are played using quake 3's own demo player or an alternative like seismovision. I would suggest using dfengine 1.08 and defrag 1.91.23; both of which are found here: http://dfwc.q3df.org/comp/dfwc2014/rules.html. One important command to get rid of the miniview at the top right is: df_ghosts_miniviewdraw "0" and also df_demos_cameramode "8" This way it's just standard first person for the demo. You don't need to worry about installing anticheat software. This is only for the players.

Every map begins and ends on Sunday at 18:00:00 GMT after which time the results are posted and the next map is downloadable. It's recommended to showcase the top10 of both vq3 and cpm because routes usually vary and it's interesting to see different methods of completing the map.

Sorry for such late notice! If you have any questions about defrag/demo playback or the maps, please don't hesitate to ask me. :) I'm not the authority for dfwc, however I can help. Thanks!

Implying zoot knows a thing about defrag.

Haha, I actually am unaware of how much he knows, but he seems pretty enthusiastic about defrag. He's also a decent quakelive racer, placing top10 in plenty of maps.

well in my opinion the analysis should be done with some 1 who played this map a lot so that he can show the process how he was exploring maps, what routes he found/ general thoughts about map etc. So if the stream is going to be held by someone who didnt play this map or even defrag, he should invite some 1 (like u, nebula or arcaon since it is strafe map) on skype or something.

Is it going to be 8 streams after results day each time ? or one giant stream?
