map 3 is designed very well. And it is a nice and beautiful map and i get 125fps all the time with dynamic light etc..., but i agree with black nigger... Well, somebody on quakenet wrote something about 23MB file of the map and low FPS... well Ghost replied something about "now is the year 2014 faggot!!!" and so on... And it reminded me, smiling, studio Activision and their permanent defending engine Call of Duty: D :naughty:
Q3 engine although it is still nice to look at, but not modern.

alright, arguing on current date, while talking about 14 y.o. engine just highlights his incompetence

also newer hardware doesn't directly means better performance for old engines
i experienced -10 fps on certain demanding map after upgrade of videocard
old teches might not have very good support and optimization in new hardware

using modern renderers could be a solution though, but ppl(people) dont use them somehow
i'v made some comparison here:
renderers_comparison.png

also 130 fps on dfwc2014-3ok start with q3bers per pixel lighting from stored in bsp lights

as for dfwc2014-3 again, in short, fps was kicked by attempt to make beauriful shadows; faulty attempt
shared example shows how it could be made enough pretty w/o hitting performance

4th map. Holy crap, what a kick in the nuts. Could you make it even more difficult to finish? I won't even have the time to figure out the fastest route, let alone record a nice demo (or any demo for that matter)...

Clever design, horribly frustrating gameplay. Top demos will blow our heads off though :P

Well, this is not round 1 anymore :P

Btw, ive noticed some people having trouble with the lighting.

The lighting of ALL the maps is meant to work best with the default settings:

r_mapoverbrightbits 2
r_overbrightbits 1
r_gamma 1

so you might wanna adjust your settings if you have any issues.

Haha, did Ghost really use high-res lightmaps without increasing scale or using supersampling? That's ridiculous.

Round 4 looks amazing, but there's a missing texture! D:< I like the style and I like the gameplay. The top5 demos are indeed gonna be wondrous, and I hope to god they don't all use the same route.
wtf i have a signature?

he increased scale, but, fyi, q3's 128*128 lms are getting stretched over single set of coplanar surfs
he used supersampling, thats how the result looks) looks worse without one tho

Okay, so dfwc2014-4 is a very interesting labyrinth map. Design-wise, this is pretty unique. Great for route finding and experimentation! Since the entire map is in view from the start, the map does lag somewhat. However, r_vertexlight 1 and r_fastsky 1 helps a bit.

I get huge fps drops if i load this map after execing dfwc-rules, otherwise solid 125. if i exec dfwc-rules after the map loads everything is ok, but i tried to upload a demo recorded like this and it says my anticheat isnt installed properly but the settings are ok...

pretty much unplayable for me with dfwc-rules settings
