New callvote MODEE - entertaining !

io friends,

it has been done many times by being bored as fu*k :)
Two or more players agrees on terms like "Hey, we should do this map with +forward only"..

Today (20.6.2013) me and arca started for fun runs "walking only", "fwd + jumping" and then sylva added to this funny challenge, "+left only + jumping", " Forward + left only + jumping" than rane came along, hox, aNnh and more...

This is trully entertaining shit :)

My opinion is we should start new server with this or create /callvote MODEE (MODE(Entertainment) - thats why 2x E) and add features like fwd+left etc. - someone might give better ideas how it should be made...

Callvote modee fwd+bwd+left
Callvote modee walk+left+right+fwd+bwd
Callvote modee rightarrow+fwd+bwd+jump
even things with weapons:
Callvote modee +fwd+bwd+rocket+jump
Callvote modee +fwd+bwd+walk+grenade

Make it on rounds - so vote might be like this
Callvote modee fwd+bwd+left+right-1r (for 1round)
Callvote modee fwd+bwd+left+right-3r (for 3rounds)

Next idea in this modee
It will automaticly join player next in line who's next or let it be on ppl(people) choice and comunication

Someone might find it interesting and do it - it will be sure good for boring time when u have nothing to do like today 20.6.2013 when many many ppl(people) had great time even with 5-14specators enjoying it :D

There is a way to double the fun!
We could merge ucmds of two players.
One controls the View angles and the other the direction keys.

One aims and the other one has to shoot.
We should make sure ioquake3's serverside mumble support is working, though.

it would be really interesting to see something like this done :) i hope someone will take a chance with this because it could bring more players together - players will be even more comunicating etc.. :dance:

cannot wait to see that :))

This type entertainment has a big advantage - almost no skill needed :)) just have fun with it

There can be no rankings, though. I don't have the means to log other modes into the database.
I could just extend the FUN_MODE.
At the moment this mode is not voteable. When the server is in FUN_MODE the record system is off and players can receive stuff like weapons and powerups from the console. Pretty useless but it's just something I wrote a few years ago for april fools. We didn't use it.

well it should be without ranking, but maybe it would make it even more fun to keep times somewhere :)) would be fun to have records even with this... imo in this mode which i presented shouldnt be allowed to give weapons etc... was ment to be fun and be able to set times with each modee everyone would abuse cheating once in a while :) soo i would like to keep it without /give etc...

1: -forward
2: -back
4: -left
8: -right
16: -moveup
32: -attack

/callvote funmode 48 (walking only)

/callvote funmode 11 (left only)

There is no problem blocking parts of the user input that way. Filtering for different commands also isn't.

But generating fake votes that sartisfy defrag and the server is.
I have some untested code here that SHOULD do the trick but it's probably full of bugs. So far I can make a vote appear on a client that never expires. It was intended for stuff like

/callvote devmap
/callvote killobs
/callvote hptimer
but it can easily be extended to filter player input.

We already manipulate the input with the "-128" and the "low moveup"-fix anyway.

bizilion combinations.... numbers would be like 9999 or more... would be a lot easier to set forward as 1, right as 5, backward as 2 and then /Callvote funmode(modee seems easier to write imo.. :D) 1+2+5 and thats it, just numbers as shortcuts for functions and + for adding more functions to the mode that player wants..
