Unknown Players in GTK DeFRaG CPM Server

Look at this! 2 players try to connect this server, but takes forever then times out! These 2 player will still try to connect with random names such as jhTypXk3128fwh and 2uNnMl1epi2r9 etc etc. These random names changes every time they connect.

Maybe virus infection...?

Apparently their emulation of the Quake protocol doesn't work, yet.
We will see the intention when they finally succeed.

According to WooDy, this could be due to DDoS (Denial-of-service attack). Causing players with random names to be connected to the server. After few minutes, they are dropped from the server due to timed out.

A DoS attack is feasible but then the code is as good as it needs to be. Where is the actual attack?
A some time ago I implemented a ip-address check that rejects more than two players coming from one ip-address. It was ment to prevent mass connect to influence votes. Works in this case too I guess.

So the attack has to be a DDoS to be effective.
