Hi!
I was there when Quake 3 was released, and was following the game for a very long time. Yeah, I guess you can call me an old school gamer.
For many years I've been admiring wild skills of DeFrag players, but for some reason I couldn't find any time to try it out myself, and then, after watching some legendary DeFrag videos, several (2 heh) days ago I decided to try out what DeFrag is on my own skin.
So far I've been practising on tr1ckhouse-beta3, on jump-pads.
Well, I can reasonably well start with speed ranging from 460u to 500u. and I managed to finish first (blue) line of pads twice. He-he... Well...
Here comes the trouble. The only way I know of how to accelerate is double-beat jumps. No matter how I tried I can't really grasp the art of single-beat and half-beat jumps.
Could you guys help me with those? I would really appreciate if someone wrote down a simple sequence of actions one should perform to master those ways of moving around.
Like for example with my double beats I go sequence of actions that looks like this:
hold UP the whole time
after left take off: STRAFE LEFT - mouse turns left
loop start:
right before jumping: STRAFE RIGHT - mouse turns right - jump
another jump - mouse still turns right
right before jumping: STRAFE LEFT - mouse turns left - jump
another jump - mouse still turns left
repeat the loop...
And even with this sequence I lose a lot of speed while changing sides from left to right.
I saw a bunch of demos and videos but I guess I'm just missing something.
Thanks!
