Newcomer says Hi!

Hi defraggers,

I'm not new to Q3, but to defrag

I know the basics of strafe jumping, but thats it :>
Okay, I can do rocketjumps

If you guys would give me some advice where to begin
I saw some maps are already included in df, so I gave the Strafe training map fdsj2 a try.
Should I just hop on a server and start trying or do some training seasons alone (e.g. Plasma climbing) ?

So, any help would be much appreciated.

I can't see any demos in the demos tab in defrag (In the main menu click "demos"). Only /temp is shown.
I'm using linux btw.
The only way to play a demo is if I type "dir demos" in the console and then /record *demo*.
The autorecorded demos are in "*userhome*/.q3a/defrag/demos".
There is also a /temp directory.
So, the demos should show up in the listing, dont they?

There are issues with linux and the defrag demo browser.
To fix that defrag introduced a cvar. Its something like df_demos_uicompatibility. You shoul set it to 1 for good results. 2 is over the top.

It still has issues, though. You can't play the first demo in a folder.
Sometimes demos are listed twice. When you click the first demo it tosses you back to the the main screen without playing it.
Sometimes you click a demo and you are thrown back to the mainscreen it starts playing 10 seconds later while you are navigating the menu.
Also there are missing folders and demos. Ihave no clue what makes folders disappear.
