cant connect to server

when i look on the server browser, there are no servers.

ive tried to connect directly via ip but i get stuck at the awaiting 1...2....3...4...5... thing.

What did you type in to connect exactly?

That's the kind of behaviour you get when you enter a wrong ip-address or port.

the ip i entered was 78.46.226.123 and the port was 27960

What about your windows firewall?
Maybe quake3 is blocked from internet access. That would also explain why you don't see any servers in the serverbrowser.
