my motherboard can support up to 24gb ram, and because i have 64bit os it would recognize all 24gb of ram.

It would be grinding slow to access it, though. Dual/Tripple channel goes out the window at that amount of ram.

I have 2gb of ram and never got even close to maxing it out. The only way to do that is to have ramdisks or running high frequency EM-simulators like feko. Both are not common for the enduser or defrag player.

So? What do you guys actually do with your ram besides having it? Most of it is used for caching files you opened a while ago anyway. (Yeah, even Microsoft found out how to do that.)

it actually depends whether u have 32bit or 64bit.. 32 bit max is like 2 or 3gb ram
64bit your limit is your capacity on the motherboard. for example my motherboard can support up to 24gb ram, and because i have 64bit os it would recognize all 24gb of ram.

:O didn't know that still 24gb or ram is just overdoing it :p

yeah currently im at 10gb.. no reason really to be above 6, only because i wanted it to be better than my friends pc lol. yeah. its a stupid reason, but the price was great.
