Q3 on Win7

You know what this means

Q3 on Win7

Postby $$-albion » Oct 11th, '11, 7:02 pm

Does anyone have experience with installing quake 3 on a Windows 7 64-bit system? Regular installing doesn't work obviously, but I can't get it to install using compatibility mode either. Thinking of dl'ing a portable version somewhere, but I was wondering if anyone here got the q3 setup working.

Also, if I finally got it installed or get a portable version, any problems that I need to know of when trying to launch it?

Too lazy to search my copy of q3 gold :ugeek:

Since years I just copy the folder of q3a from one pc to another instead of installing. It works well. Maybe you can just copy the needed files from the cd.

just get ioquake3.
It runs smoothly on every platform and has the most advanced code base out there.

I was thinking about trying ioq3 if I couldn't find a way to do a regular install.

No need to install _all you need is the correct folder setup. and some pk3s.

Indeed. Literally all you need to run Q3 is an engine and the 8 basic paks (for 1.32, ofc). It automatically generates q3config.cfg, which makes 10 files, plus autoexec because nobody uses ONLY q3config...
wtf i have a signature?
